Scholarly Pursuits | Academic Dedication

Academy life was... difficult, in some senses. Nico loved to learn, of course, and especially to learn in an academic environment. The love of being educated was why he wanted to be a scholar in the first place, and the love of the academy's atmosphere only strengthened that desire. But it was rather difficult to be unable to attain the goal that everyone else had in the hatchling academy.

He had been told early on that he wasn't going to be earning a halo. It wasn't an insult, and it was of no fault of his own, but he had been looked over after being sick every so often... and it just wasn't going to happen to him. To be a elysiphim unable to attain the halo that everyone in the academy was working to earn, and because of something out of his control, it was upsetting.

Still, he worked just as hard to understand and absorb every piece of knowledge that he could be given. Not many others bothered him about it, especially not the other hatchlings, they didn't care much about what he did, especially since he could work forever and never gain his halo.

Every so often, Izar would come by and try to check in on him, make sure he was okay, but eventually he too gave him some distance after the ten or so times that the other hatchling was unable to pull him away from his studies.

Truly, Izar would have to forgive him, but Nicodemus knew this was the only way for him to feel like a true scholar, for him to truly be ready for that path once he grew.
