A Curious Creature

Fae was drawn towards a commotion not far from the Academy gates. A baby manticore cried out angrily, fighting a trap someone had set that it had gotten caught in. She gasped, getting angry herself at the thought of someone doing such a terrible thing and rushed in to help the poor creature. Wild animals, however, don't understand what is help or harm, especially when in pain, so it lashed out at Fae as they approached. She knew it didn't mean it and despite the claws, teeth, and striking tail, she managed to get its paw out and it quickly made for the bushes. Fae sighed with relief and flopped on the ground, exhausted from the struggle, but happy she did a good deed. Unknown to her, the manticore hadn't left and watched wearily from the bushes, perplexed by the phim and gracious it had stopped the pain...
