Enchantments for the Heart

Fuki’s nose wrinkled as she stared at the materials she had picked, then looked back over to the different weapons on display. She picked a bow…mainly out of panic and impatience. Obtaining a weapon would mean she would get to come home sooner. That’s all that mattered to her. If she could show her father her weapon and that she could wield it properly, she might be accepted by him again.

It was something that she doubted she would ever do, but if this was the only way to gain his approval then…so be it.

“Alright! Now one last thing we need before I can begin forging your weapon; your preferred enchantment!” Thornmael speaks up, his chest puffed out proudly as he looks at the younger cherub.

“My…preferred enchantment? Like fire or something?” Fuki hums, sitting down to rest her stubby legs. She was growing tired of the constant choices she had to make, and the fire made the room so painfully comfortable that the temptation to nap was basically choking her.

Thornmael nods and gestures for the other to come closer, Fuki reluctantly listening with a small groan. The blacksmith splayed out a different array of cards listing each enchantment, including the basic damage types as well. “Your enchantment will be what main damage type you do to an enemy. This can be any element you want and will boost your damage output if you were to attack with a basic sword like the one back on the stand over there.”

Fuki blinks slowly, picking Ibuki off the ground to hold like a child holding their favorite plush. She leans forward on her hind legs, looking at the different cards with a small hum. Abyssal, fire, frost, lightning, Holy…there was so many others to pick from. The little angel began to feel her head hurt. So boring…she just wanted her weapon now. Thornmael said this was the last thing to pick, but she felt like she had heard it a thousand times over in her head. She hums and rests her chin on Ibuki’s head, the creature chittering in her grip and squirming pathetically.

“Uhm…I guess…the fire one?” Fuki looks to the other Elysiphim with tired eyes, the curiosity she held in the beginning of this event fading away by the second. And Thornmael could see that.

Thornmael offers the other a smile, patting the smaller angel on the head before picking up the card. “Fire is good! If that’s what you want, then we can go with that.” He chuckles softly.

Fuki closed her eyes and relaxed further into Ibuki’s head, “Yeah.” She could feel the seconds passing. Though when Thornmael clapped his paws together she immediately jumped up, eyes wide.

“Alright! That should be everything needed then. It shouldn’t take too long to finish; you can relax on the couch or outside while I’m working.” He smiles brightly, Sooty chirping loudly in response.

Fuki finally seemed to be content again at the promise of a nap, nodding enthusiastically before dragging her tanuki pet all the way near the fire to lay down and relax. Finally…
