Intro

Elysiphim features a special card game that can be played on the Discord server! It has aspects of D&D and TCGs.
It is a fun way to earn some extra riyal! To start playing, make a post in the card game forum on the Discord channel with the title being your LK username! Do not name it anything else! This is to keep things from being confusing to the mods! To begin a battle, paste the form below in your forum post.

LK Username:
Character ML link:
Character faction:
Starting equipment: (example: Weapon + one mana potion)
Difficulty: easy or hard

You will be playing against mods in these battles, so be kind! Games will be balanced according to your character's levels. PVP is also an option. PVP works a little differently and will be discussed later.

Getting your first card deck

Your first card deck will be free! It can be found in the Card Shop and will contain 8 common cards (rarity is represented by stars, such as ★☆☆☆ for a common card)
These cards should all be placed in your character's inventory!
How do you get more cards? Via prompt rewards, special quests, or events!

The basics

Each game will consist of rounds. There are 5 turns in each round.  At the beginning of each round, the player and the enemy draw 5 cards from their deck.  The mods will tell you what cards you have in your hand when you draw! Your deck must have a minimum of 5 cards, unless one of the cards is a legendary card. More information about legendary cards is found below. There is no current card maximum.
The enemy always takes the first turn.
On each turn, there are three actions: you can play a card, draw a mana card from the mana deck (infinite), OR draw a card (up to a max of 5 cards in hand).
To play a card, write the card’s name and ability next to PLAY ➤. One card may be played per turn unless a card's ability lets you play more than one card.
Some cards will require spending mana points. If the player chooses, they may draw a mana card from the mana deck (infinite), restoring 5 mana (MP).
Adding artwork or writing to an attack will multiply the effectiveness of the card by 1.5x or 2x.
Any cards left in your hand when the round ends will remain in your hand for the next round, unless you specify that you'd like to discard them.
The winner is determined by who reduces the opponent's health to 0 first.

Mana Points, Health Points, and AC

Your character will have 3 stats,  HP (health points), MP  (mana points), and AC (armor class).

HP: Marks your standard health pool.
MP: Marks how much magic you have left. Some cards require magic to cast, some do not.
AC: Marks how much damage it takes for an enemy to break your armor shield. The attacker must roll higher than this on their piercing roll to hit the defender.

At character creation, a character should have 30 HP, 20 MP, and 5 AC. These stats can be altered with prompt rewards, card effects, or equipment. If a player runs out of mana, they may draw a mana card from an infinite deck, sacrificing a chance to attack!
The amount of mana a card will require is in the lower diamond here:

Attacking

All cards have the ability to attack. But in order to attack, the card must roll a piercing roll to determine if the attack pierces the enemy’s AC (armor class). If the roll is a success (the roll is higher than the enemy's AC), the card will roll a damage roll. When one rolls a critical on a piercing roll (a critical is when you roll the highest roll), they roll double the damage dice. For example, a card could have a d4 damage roll. If rolling a critical on a piercing roll, the damage dice will be double that, and thus 2d4. Which dice is rolled is indicated on each card here:

The first slot is a card’s piercing dice, the second is the card’s attack dice, and the third is the card’s damage type. Some cards may not come with dice types and are purely status effect cards.

In this case, if you wanted to play this card, you'd post: PLAY ➤ Bite. And then do /roll 2d8 (the piercing dice). If your result is greater than your enemy's armor class, you roll damage by typing /roll 1d6 (the attack dice). If you get a one, it's a caustic action (more on that below). Otherwise, that's the amount of damage you do!

Status Effects

Some cards have the ability to apply a status effect. For example: X card can apply SNOW STORM – places a snow storm upon the battlefield. All enemy attacks roll at disadvantage (roll the dice for piercing twice and take the lower amount) until the effect ends. How long a card’s status effect lasts can be seen at the top here:

If adding an artwork/writing bonus, the turns the card will last will be multiplied by either 1.5 or 2 and rounded down. This bonus does not apply to cards that last only 1 turn.

Rolling dice

To roll a die on Discord we use bots! In your forum post you may roll your dice, even if the bot is not in your post! The command to roll is /roll
Once you type that it will give you a box to fill. Input whatever dice you are rolling and enter! For example: /roll 2d8!

Damage Types

Each card has a damage type indicated by the symbols on the third slot. The damage types are:

Slash

Pierce

Strike

Holy

Fire (or heat)

Frost

Lightning

Magic

Psychic

Abyssal

Caustic

Some cards will weaken certain types of enemies.

Caustic Actions

A caustic action occurs when a card’s damage roll is 1. When this occurs, the card will roll a d20 to determine the target of the action. 1-10 the card will attack the one who played it, 11-20 the card will attack the opponent. Once it rolls its target roll, it will roll an attack roll once again. If the result is again 1, the card will do 1 damage. Some cards with status effects will apply their status effect to the player during a caustic action. For example, when using cockatrice and failing a target roll, cockatrice will freeze the player instead of the opponent!

Adding Artwork or Writing to a Play

Adding artwork or writing to a play will apply a 1.5x or 2x bonus to that play. If you are using this for a card that lasts multiple turns, it increases the turns lasted (as explained above) as well as the damage. If the card is something that only lasts one turn, it will only increase the damage. The artwork or writing should relate to the battle or the card played in some way.

1.5 bonus requirements: A fullbody drawing or 250 words.
2 bonus requirements: A fullbody and a basic background or 500 words.

An example is if you add a fullbody artwork or a 250 word writing to playing the card Basic Shield, it will extend the turns it will last to 3 (base duration) * 1.5 = 4.5 rounds, rounded down to 4.

Equipment

Equipment can be added to add buffs to your character at the start and during the game. These buffs are determined by an item’s description. Some items can only be used at the start of the round, and others can be used during the round. Another form of equipment is your character’s crafted weapon, found in its alternate form tab. These weapons can apply bonuses to certain damage types or actions. How much of a bonus these weapons can apply depends on your character's weapon level! Only one weapon and one item can be added in a turn!

Legendary Cards

Some cards are considered legendary with a rarity of 4 stars! These cards can only be played if you have 10 other cards in your current deck! So you would have 11 cards in total. This is to prevent decks that contain solely legendary cards. If you want 2 legendary cards in your deck, you must have 20 other cards in your deck, if you want 3 legendary cards, you must have 30 other cards in your deck, etc.

Anatomy of the card overview

PVP

PvP is held in special arenas on Discord! These require more management, so there will be less posts dedicated to them. First, the 2 players must decide who goes first in some matter, whether by choosing or by coin toss. Then post this for in the pvp-arena-setup channel on the discord.

The order of play:
A mod will post the game info
> Player makes their play
a mod will post the game info
> Challenger makes their play
Repeat

These games may not be balanced, be careful!

Collecting Riyal

Card games will reward riyal! At lower levels they will reward 1 riyal every 2 turns. At higher levels 1 riyal per round. The winner of the game will recieve 5 riyal no matter the level! To turn in your game, take a screenshot of the final stats + total riyal earned and link the screenshot in the links section of the card battle turn in prompt. Be sure to add either HP, MP, or AC to your character rewards as well! Unsure of how that works? Please see the earning hp, mp, ac, and xp guideIf you added any artwork or writing to your plays, include the links to those as well and include the additional riyal based on the riyal guide in your rewards.
